More Medical Students Choose Thus Specialist

In conversations with many medical students, most of them chose to continue to be a specialist after graduating physicians. It does not seem to change much as when 9 years ago when I graduated as a general practitioner. choosing a medical specialty. The desire to be a specialist is something that even aspired since I was in college. It is actually also linked from the "culture" of medicine in Indonesia.

I never felt sad when he saw a young specialist doctor scolding doctor who happened to be senior guard was a general practitioner in a hospital. And in my mind certainly is the experience of senior doctors further than the young specialists who deserve to be his son. Just because he is a medical specialist he feels smarter and more powerful than general practitioners, despite being very senior. True science is evolving and not only experience, but it was senior honor is something that applies for anyone whether he is a specialist or not.

Often seen suggests that general practitioners was a second-class doctors who make most graduates choose to become a specialist doctor though to take large financing needs and is not easy. We all know that in Indonesia to specialize must pay tuition fees. This is different than in neighboring countries such as Singapore or the Philippines are similar to those in the United States that even doctors are paid by the hospital even though his salary according to the salary of a physician assistant specialist.

Apart from having to pay, a specialist program participants was not easy. At least where education program specialists are limited at state universities also make the chances of getting smaller. Yet coupled with a lot of "X factors" other determinants that nearly all medical students know about it. Especially if you want to go big 4 specialization courses (Child, Medicine, various sub Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology) and is a favorite, most are not easy. No wonder many eventually many are choosing to go abroad even after return will have to undergo the equation again.

Specialist education system in Indonesia is still University Based, unlike in countries like the United States and the Philippines are Hospital Based. Even then, more narrowed again with State University Based, meaning that only public university that is able to carry out education specialists.

However difficult entry specialists sometimes make this general practitioners disappointed. Yet hope is always there at the head of the doctors or medical students this.

For me who has become a specialist and see a GP working day-to-day, is not really a problem to become a doctor or a grade two class. Many who want to become specialists mostly because looking at the "economic" behind it. When interviewing prospective doctors I've seen how their idealistic aspirations to become a doctor but as a specialist, I think most or nearly all of them may want to change lives for the better. Although I saw many general practitioners whose lives are also economically very well established and even much better than a specialist.

But in general actually Indonesia shortage of specialists and less spread evenly across Indonesian . Most specialists prefer the big city and it is almost the case in all areas of specialization. So although the number was much later, is also expected to spread evenly.

Hopefully in the future there will be changes in the education system specialists so that more people can become a specialist and serve the community.

Greetings Healthy Life
